Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elmarakbi
Professor of Automotive Composites and Head of Mechanical Engineering, UNN
Background
Prof. Ahmed Elmarakbi, PhD,CEng, FIMechE, SFHEA, obtained a PhD in Mechanical Eng. from University of Toronto, Canada, 2004. He has worked as NSERC/JSPS fellow in Canada and Japan, University of Sunderland (UK) (Senior Lecture 2007-2011; Reader, 2011-2012; Professor 2012-2018). In Sept. 2018, he moved to UNN as Professor of Automotive Composites, Head of Subject (Mechanical Engineering) and Leader of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) research group in the MCE Dept. He is also a visiting professor of vehicle lightweighting at Hunan University, China. He is an expert on advanced nanocomposite materials, graphene related materials (GRMs), GRMs-based smart multifunctional materials (modelling and design), and nanofabrication. His work outcomes are recognised both nationally and internationally as evident from his 180+ plenary lectures, invited talks, and presentaion and 200+ peer-reviewed research papers. In his 25 years of experience, he has received many prestigious awards and grants, and won/managed several national and international multidisciplinary projects including FP7, H2020 and Horızon Europe projects (EU), EPSRC (UK), JSPS (Japan), and NSERC (Canada).
