Meet CTAG.

Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia

CTAG is a Spanish, private, non-profit R&D technology centre devoted to support the automotive industry in its research, development and innovation needs. CTAG was created in 2002 thanks to a joint initiative of automotive enterprises within the region of Galicia.

With a team of more than 900 professionals having more than 60% of international activity, CTAG is an ideal partner for developing new innovative products for the automotive sector using CAD product design and CAE simulations tools. CTAG is present in all the stages of product development, from initial advanced research to product life. The key fields of competence where CTAG concentrates its activities are: new materials, novel manufacturing processes, simulation and modelling, component testing and analysis of performances, environment, electronics, ergonomics, comfort and innovation management.

CTAG’s modern facilities incorporate cutting-edge technology and testing equipment designed to provide world class validation services for automotive components. Main labs: acoustic and vibration, climatic testing (+40 different ageing chambers, some of them associated to mechanical equipment for combined testing), fatigue and durability, reliability, materials, engine, automation and instrumentation, metrology and passive safety.

The Materials Innovation Area is the research team working on new materials at CTAG. Our strategic research lines are focused on: multifunctional and smart materials, high performance composites, bioinspired composites, new aesthetics based on green materials, plastronic, acoustic surfaces and thermal comfort.

Through its career, the Materials Innovation Area has participated in 36 funded research projects, leading 12 of them within different calls (HEu, H2020, FP7, Interreg, etc.) and more than 40 projects with private clients. This has allowed us to establish international collaborations in research projects with several automotive OEMs, major suppliers, material manufacturers, European research institutes and numerous SMEs.

CTAG is the coordinator of SALIENT project. In addition, within this project CTAG will be responsible for the CAD design of a novel concept of front-end structure (FES) and the development of the end-of-life (EoL) recycling solutions, pursuing the adoption of circular economy principles.
