SALIENT partners attend the Road Transport Research Conference 2023

Several SALIENT consortium partners attended the Road Transport Research (RTR) Conference over 3 days (14-16 February 2023) at the Blue Point venue in Brussels, Belgium. The conference is the landmark event for EU-funded research and innovation actions (RIAs and IAs) and gathered in total 61 EU-funded projects this year. More than 400 persons attended the event in person and the sessions are also published on the event’s Youtube channel.

Although SALIENT was not yet part of any of the sessions, consortium partners were active in presenting related and previous work of other projects as speakers in several panels.

Most notably, SALIENT Project Coordinator (PC) Raquel Ledo (CTAG) presented preliminary results of the ALMA project (2021-2024), which seeks to reduce the weight of specifically electric vehicles. The presentation took place within the “GV - Advanced light materials and their production processes“ session on the second morning of the conference. With the increasing capacity and size of vehicle batteries, the weight of the surrounding vehicle structure needs to be reduced to reduce gradually not only the energy consumption of electric vehicles, but also their ecological footprint during the manufacturing processes. ALMA is highly related to the targets of SALIENT and a close collaboration between the two projects is sought. The presentation offered a great opportunity to share and exchange on lightweight material and composite research across projects.

Furthermore, Dissemination & Communication Manager (DCM) Friederike L. Kühl (Etelätär Innovation) presented on the same afternoon under the thematic session “Driver behaviour and acceptance of connected, cooperative and automated transport“ results from the PAsCAL project (2019-2022). The project focused on capturing and enhancing the perception and capabilities of drivers and users of CCAM technologies from a behavioural perspective.

Apart from the two presentations, the conference offered a great opportunity for the consortium partners to exchange information and discuss also the upcoming Consortium Meeting on 08-09 March 2023 in La Nucía, Spain. The event was a grand success with a high number of relevant attendees to explore synergies old and new between partners, projects and the European Commission’s CINEA agency.

SALIENT looks forward to being a part of the next RTR edition - see you in spring 2023!
