SALIENT Interim Review Meeting in Brussels Marks Halfway Point
After 1.5 years, the SALIENT project reached its midway point and Consortium Partners met for a two-day meeting at the offices of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Brussels, Belgium from 28 to 29 February 2024. The main objective of the meeting was not only to hold a General Assembly on the first day to plan the work for the next 18 months of the project ahead, but also to host an Interim Review meeting with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
On day one, Consortium Partners from each Work Package (WP) shared interesting findings and milestones seeking to conceptualise, design and validate - with both simulations and crash tests - a new kind of vehicle Front End Structure (FES) which is more circular, lightweight, safe and smart than the available ones in the market today.
This exercise allowed all Partners to evaluate, review and discuss the progress & development of SALIENT activities internally.
The session proved very helpful in elaborating and analysing the recent developments and also showcasing the results of WP 1, which came to an end in February 2024.
The Day 1 meeting was rounded off by a social dinner and offered a more casual opportunity to exchange project ideas, goals and cross-WP cooperation.
Dr Katerina Deliali, Project Officer at CINEA, attended the second day of the meeting, where she reviewed the project's progress during its first 18 months and interacted with all WP Leaders, which showcased and explained their developments and findings. Dr Deliali contributed actively through the presentations of the WP activities and used this opportunity to bring remarks and additional ideas that will increase the project's success.
The two-day official Interim Review meeting preceded the preparation of an official Technical and Financial Interim Report to CINEA and the European Commission.
Throughout this fruitful exchange, all SALIENT Partners had the opportunity to spend their time effectively by exchanging inputs proactively between them & brainstorming on ambitious activities that will shape the future of the automotive sector!
The next physical General Assembly will take place in Chemnitz, Germany during September 2024!
